Lillian Salazar

Lillian Juanita Salazar, 82 of Pahoa, died Nov. 9, 2022 at her residence. Born March 28, 1940 in Koae, Kapoho, she was an educator at numerous schools, retiring from Pahoa High and Intermediate School in 1994, and member of Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Services will be held Nov. 25 at Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church; visitation from 4:30 to 6 p.m., prayer service at 7 p.m. Friends may also call Nov. 26 at the church; visitation from 8:30 to 10 a.m., celebration of Mass to follow at 11 a.m. She is survived by husband, George Salazar of Pahoa; sons, Terence (Lucille) Salazar and Conrad (Candi) Salazar of Pahoa, Jason (Jenny) Salazar of Okinawa, Japan; brother, Francisco (Jan) Tagalicod of Parma, Ohio; sister, Leilani Kobayashi, Emma Tagalicod, Frances (Solomon) Ka’awaloa and Marcelina (Samuel) Kaho’okaulana of Pahoa, Florence Kawaihae of Fairfield, California, Jane (Howard) Konanui and LoveyMae (Charles Shaffer) Tagalicod of Hawaiian Paradise Park; sisters in-law, Violet Tabonair of Kekaha, Hawaii and Emily (Mark) Watanabe of Hilo; brother in-law, Alfred (Abigail) Bumanglag of Mountain View; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Richard Uchimura

Richard Yoichi Uchimura, 93, of Hilo, died Oct. 10, 2022, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Holualoa, he was a retired machinist/welder for the former Industrial Steel Corp., U.S. Army Korean War veteran and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Papaikou Senior Softball League and Iron Workers Union Local 625. Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers. Donations in his memory can be made to Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, 398 Kilauea Ave., Hilo, HI 96720. He is survived by wife, Michiko Uchimura of Hilo; daughters, Lynne Bautista and Merle (John) Gornick of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Nobuko Nishimura and Rosalie Takayama of Hilo; three grandchildren, Nicole Uchimura, Shari Ann (Michael Ortiz) Bautista and Kristen (Sean Tyan) Bautista; numerous nieces and nephews.
